My IWC watch box, which I got when I bought my IWC secondhand, is made of a black, rubber type material. It's turning into a soft sticky mess. Unfortunately I don't have the outer box, so that leaves it open to the environment to collect fuzz, dog hair, etc. After all these years, the rubberized surface has become sticky, with dirt and dust practically gluing itself to it. It's a lovely box, so I really don't want to have to throw it out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it up without damaging it (like accidentally rubbing off the white IWC print and text)? Box is in the original paper box stored in my wardrobe. took out recently and realise the matte surface is very sticky now and my finger print is now imprinted on it. Is there any way to salvage the box still? any solution to wipe on it to clean it or remove the matte surface if that is even recommended? /p/p< /p
It seems these IWC Boxes are notorious for the gloss/residue becoming really tacky and eventually wears down a lot and gives a terrible appearance to the box. I've used Goo Gone, as well as some cleaner/degreaser and nothing seems to be pulling the residue off.
